These are rare photographs of the gorgeous Winnetka, IL house that was used in the movie Home Alone. The pictures of the inside of the house were taken by me sometime in 2004. I took them for my own personal use, but just recently decided to share them with the fans of the movie. I have to thank the wonderful owners of the house, for being kind enough to invite me in to their private home and allow me to snap a few quick shots.

I wish I could have taken a few more pictures but my time and access was limited. Also, I think my camera battery was dying as well. I wouldn't be able to tell you what the upstairs looked like... but I do remember looking upstairs from the stairs and did notice that one wall still appeared to be that green color like in the movie.
How much of the actual house was used in the movie... I'm still unsure. The director has said on the DVD commentary that all the interiors were filmed on set in a high school gym... but I know for a fact the stairs scene with the sled was filmed in the actual house (according to the owners). Macaulay Culkin has said in that same dvd commentary that they DID do a lot of shooting at the actual house. So, I don't know what's real and what's stage.
Do you have any other pictures from inside the house? If so, I'd love to hear from you. Please e-mail me at: afbdomain [at] gmail.com or contact me here
Fun Facts I Learned After Talking To The Owner:
Macaulay Culkin actually spent a great deal of time inside the real house during down time. Even sleeping in one of the bedrooms, rather than a trailer!
Macaulay was so used to eating junk food, the lady owner put her foot down and said if he was going to stay in her house, he was going to eat right.
After filming finished, the production crew gave the owners the option to keep the treehouse up. The owners had them take it down out of safety & liability fears. They were afraid some kid would sneak over to climb it, and get hurt.
You know those steep, outdoor steps leading to the basement? They didn't exist before the movie. They dug like a 15 foot hole and added the steps for the scenes... and covered it back up after filming.
The owners of the house really are extremely nice, generous people. Below is a picture of a poster they gave me.
I had made several visits to the Home Alone house in the late 90s, (way before 2004 when I first got to go inside) where I mainly just drove by or took pictures across the street. (Yes, I'm quite the persistent stalker).
Anyway, one of the times, one of the owners spotted me across the street and welcomed me over to the driveway to get some better shots. As I was filming the house with my camcorder, she went inside and came out with a poster she said all the cast & crew got, that was supposed to be included with purchases of the movie when it was released, but for some reason that never happened. I have no idea how rare or how many posters like this exist, but I've not seen any others on the internet yet. All I know is, the owners of the house are awesome people :) I heard they used to give out stuff from the movie to fans over the years....until there was nothing left to give! Who knows, some lucky fan might have a major prop from the movie!
That's all for now. They also gave me 2 behind the scenes photos from the movie during another visit... but I don't know where those are at the moment. It was photos of a crew member blowing potato flakes in front of a fan in front of the house.

UPDATE
I own actual blueprints for a replica 'Home Alone House' to be built like it appeared in the movie.
An architect/big time fan of the movie spent a lot of time drafting it up. These are real architechtual plans for a custom home, and he will sell them to you.
What I'm selling is not the plans, but I will provide you his e-mail address for a fee. I definitely recommend anyone who is interested or eventually plans to have a house like this built, to contact him.
